Resumen

Objetivo: analizar comunicación no verbal entre enfermero y paciente ciego durante la consulta de enfermería. Método: estudio casi-experimental, cuantitativo. Participaron 15 enfermeros en el grupo control y 15 en el experimental y 30 pacientes ciegos. El grupo experimental ha recibido capacitación acerca de la Teoría Proxémica y del Modelo de Comunicación No Verbal Enfermero-Paciente Ciego. Las visitas de enfermería fueron grabadas y analizadas por tres expertos. Los datos fueron procesados en SPSS y analizados por las pruebas chi-cuadrado (X²) y de máxima verosimilitud. Resultados: Las enfermeras capacitadas establecieron comunicación efectiva. Asociación entre las categorías, Postura y Eje (p=0,0001); Gestos emblemáticos y reguladores (p=0,0001), pero no en los Gestos Ilustradores (p=0,191). Para comportamiento facial, apertura de los ojos, dirección de la mirada y volumen de la voz (p=0,0001), el grupo experimental obtuvo el mejor resultado. Conclusión: El Modelo de Comunicación No Verbal Enfermero-Paciente Ciego es eficaz en la consulta de enfermería a pacientes ciegos.

Abstract (Comparative analysis of non-verbal communication between nurse and blind person)

Objective: To analyze nonverbal communication between nurses and blind persons during nursing consultations. Methods: Quasi-experimental, quantitative study. The participants were 15 nurses in the experimental group and 15 in the control group and 30 blind persons. The experimental group received training on Proxemics Theory and the Model of Non-Verbal Communication Nurse-Blind. Nursing visits were videotaped and analyzed by three experts. The data were processed in SPSS and analyzed by chi-square (X²) and maximum likelihood. Results: Trained nurses established effective communication in nursing consultations for the blind. An association was found between the categories Distance, Posture and Axis (p=0.0001); Iconic and regulatory (p=0.0001) gestures, but not for illustrating gestures (p=0.191). Concerning facial behavior, eye opening, gaze direction and volume of the voice (p=0.0001), the experimental group had the best result. Conclusions: The Model of Non-Verbal Communication Nurse-Blind is effective in nursing consultations for blind patients.
