Resumen Objetivo principal: Establecer la relación entre implante percutáneo de prótesis de válvula aórtica Corevalve en pacientes con estenosis aórtica severa y la calidad de vida de los pacientes. Metodología: Estudio descriptivo transversal de pacientes con estenosis aórtica severa sometidos a implante percutáneo de prótesis de válvula aórtica Corevalve. Se registraron las características demográficas y clínicas de los pacientes incluidos. Utilizamos el Índice de Barthel como medida del nivel de independencia en actividades de la vida diaria (AVD) y el test de Pfeiffer como medida del nivel cognitivo. Resultados: N=100 (65 mujeres), edad media 79,7 + ó - 6,5 años. La puntuación media, en el Índice de Barthel tras 7,1 + ó - 5 meses de seguimiento, mejoró de 74,80% a 86,40%, p< 0,001. Conclusión: El implante percutáneo de prótesis aórtica se relacionan con una mejora objetiva para las actividades de la vida diaria. Abstract (Quality of life in patients undergoing transcatheter aortic valve implantation Corevalve®) Objective: To establish the relation between transcatheter aortic valve implantation of Corevalve prosthesis in patients with severe aortic stenosis and the quality of life of the patients. Methods: Transversal descriptive trial carried out with patients undergoing transcatheter aortic valve implantation. All patients demographics and clinical characteristics were registered. Barthel Index has been used for the assesment of quality of life, and Pfeiffer,s test as a measure of cognitive level. Results: 100 patients were evaluated (65 females), mean age 79,7 + or - 6,5 years. The mean score on the Barthel Index after 7.1 + or - 5 months follow-up, improved from 74,80% a 86,40%, p<0,001. Conclusions: Transcatheter aortic valve implantation of aortic prothesis is an objective improvement related to activities of daily living.
