Resumen

Objetivo principal: analizar los recursos que mejoran la adhesión al tratamiento antirretroviral en personas con trastornos mentales y VIH. Metodología: para esta revisión de la literatura se han consultado las bases de datos CINAHL, COCHRANE y PubMed. Se han revisado un total de 19 artículos que cumplían los criterios de inclusión y exclusión. Resultados principales: el apoyo social, las intervenciones educativas y el uso de las telecomunicaciones han demostrado mejorar la adhesión al tratamiento antirretroviral en personas con trastornos mentales y VIH. Conclusión principal: a pesar de la complejidad del tratamiento y del mayor riesgo de fallo en la adhesión, el uso de dichos recursos muestra una mejora en la salud física y mental de las personas con trastornos mentales y VIH.

Abstract (Improving antiretroviral treatment adherence in persons with mental disorders and HIV: is it possible?)

Objective: to analyze the resources which improve antiretroviral treatment adherence in persons with mental disorders and HIV. Methods: research in the data bases CINAHL, COCHRANE and PubMed was conducted for this review of the literature. A total of 19 articles met the inclusion and exclusion criteria. Results: social support, educational interventions and the use of wireless communications show improving antiretroviral treatment adherence in persons with mental disorders and HIV. Conclusions: despite treatment complexity and higher risk of non-adherence, the use of such resources shows improving physical and mental health of persons with mental disorders and HIV.
