Resumen Roting, pull, retén, correturnos o a saber cuántas denominaciones se le pueden atribuir a este Equipo de Enfermería hospitalario que tradicionalmente ha sido o es especialista de nada y por el contrario conocedor de todos y cada una de las unidades, pacientes, personal y procedimientos. El hecho de no ser, normalmente, una opción laboral voluntariamente elegida, ¿podría proyectar hacia los demás esa sensación de Enfermería de segunda clase? Todo ello hace evidente unas diferenciaciones entre las Enfermeras de Roting y el resto. Para encontrar los orígenes, características y producción científica de esta disciplina enfermera nos encontramos con una gran dificultad, debido principalmente a la invisibilidad de la misma, ocasionado por la disparidad de denominaciones que pueden llegar a recibir. El benchmarking, consiste en acciones sistemáticas para la búsqueda e identificación de la mejora de las prácticas organizativas y tecnológicas para conducir a una organización al desempeño excelente. Las Enfermeras correturnos observan diariamente a decenas de Enfermeras experimentadas en diferentes unidades asistenciales realizando muy diversos cuidados enfermeros. Con una sistemática adecuada, en la que se incluya la investigación cuantitativa/cualitativa, se puede lograr la identificación de las mejores intervenciones enfermeras. Su posterior análisis de las mismas y la exportación de las mismas permiten conseguir la excelencia en los cuidados. Palabras clave: Enfermería/ Roting/ Rotting/ Pull/ Correturnos/ Retén/ Rotación.		Abstract (Dissertation about the so-called "Roting" in Nursing. Second-class staff or keystone in "benchmarking"?) "Roting", "pull", "retén", "shift runner" (correturnos) and who knows how many other names can be applied to this nursing staff whose members have traditionally been considered experts in nothing in particular, however connoisseurs of each and all of the fields, units, patients, staff and procedures. The fact that this work option is not usually chosen voluntarily, could it give the impression that this is second-class nursing? All of this highlights the obvious differences between "Roting Nurses" and the other nurses. It is very hard to find the origins, characteristics and scientific production of this nursing discipline due mainly to its "invisibility" caused by the vast amount of names that have been used to describe it. Benchmarking consists of systematic actions aimed at the search and identification of improvement in organization and technological procedures that lead an organization to the achievement of the best execution. "Roting Nurses" watch on a daily basis dozens of experienced nurses working in different wards carrying out various nursing tasks. With an effective system, which includes both quantitative/qualitative investigations, the identification of the best nursing practices can be achieved. The subsequent analysis and use of these practices lead to excellence in nursing care. Key-words: Nursing/ Roting/ Rotting/ Pull/ Shift runner/ "Retén"/ Rotation.
