Resumen

Hay muchas formas de conocer la historia de una profesión, su evolución y los instrumentos utilizados. La autora ha elegido en esta ocasión reunir una serie de piezas muy representativas utilizadas para satisfacer las necesidades vitales, que muestran el cambio de las costumbres en cuanto al utensilio utilizado para la alimentación artificial de los niños, en nuestra cultura y en un periodo que abarca desde la Edad Media hasta nuestros días.  La historia de la alimentación artificial a través de los biberones que la posibilitaron. El biberón puede ser un simple objeto del ajuar doméstico, pero en este caso, es también, el hilo conductor que nos permite unir su pasado con los actuales cuidados profesionales de enfermería.  Quiero expresar mi más sincero agradecimiento a la Dra. Isabel Mateo Gómez, profesora del Instituto de Arte del Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas (CSIC), por su inestimable contribución en el análisis iconográfico de las imágenes.

Abstract (Baby Feeding Bottle Short Story)

There are many ways to get to know a profession's history, its evolution and the artificial tools and instruments linked to it. This time, the author has chosen to put together a series of highly representative instruments, which have traditionally been used in basic care, that will illustrate the evolution of the customs regarding infants' artificial feeding within our own culture from the Middle Ages to the present times. In other words, the history of infants' artificial feeding through the use of feeding bottles.  The baby's feeding bottle may be just a simple object within any household. However, there is no doubt that it also constitutes the link that will allow us to connect its past with modern professional nursing care.  I would like to thank Dr Isabel Mateo Gomes, Professor at the Instituto del Arte del Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Cientificas (CSIC), for her help and contribution in the iconographic analysis of the images.
