Abstract (A Nursing History Professionalization Approach, from the History of Concepts)

Due to a set of historical difficulties, Nursing is a discipline which is still under construction. Taking into account this context, to look to the history of its professionalization, reinforces its identity, and makes its disciplinary status explicit. Based on the above, the aim of this work is to make a theoretical approach to the professionalization of Anglo-Saxon Nursing, mediated by "history of concepts" framework. From a theoretical point of view, history of concepts addresses the concepts which have participated in that history. Under that approach, an intricate process materialized in a common Nursing conscience, and the development of the social female role, are perceived. Hence, it can be concluded that the approach to the history of nursing professionalization is considered as a tool that favors identities consolidation and clinical practice development.
Key-words: History of nursing/ Professionalization/ Identity/ Practice.
