Florence Nightingale en la Guerra de Crimea. Un legado para la enfermería del siglo XXI

Resumen

Introducción: Siguiendo como hilo conductor, a la vez que luminosa metáfora, obras pictóricas de la época se resaltará la figura de Florence Nightingale en el horizonte de la Historia de la Enfermería como hito decisivo; su labor realizada durante la Guerra de Crimea, momento cumbre en su dilatada trayectoria vital.
Metodología: Para el análisis y valoración adecuados se estudiará la obra de sus biógrafos más relevantes junto con testimonios escritos de personajes que la conocieron o admiraron, y datos complementarios de dicha época extractados de fuentes históricas.
El soporte visual para esta comunicación lo constituyen cuadros de diversos pintores que atañen directamente a su persona, en la época antes aludida; o bien, proporcionar una cobertura alegórica y poética al entorno temporal y físico en el que se desarrollaron los hechos.
Conclusiones: con Florence Nightingale nuestro oficio experimenta un maravilloso giro copernicano; siendo el gozne trascendental de dicho cambio su contribución profesional y humana en el conflicto bélico de Crimea.

Abstract (Florence Nightingale in the war of Crimea. Legacy for the nursering 21th century)

Introduction: Following as guiding and metaphoric light, paintings of her age, Florence Nightingale´s profile will be enhanced in this report through the landscape of the History of Nursery like a golden milestone, and specially her work in the War of Crimea, a landmark in her long proffesional journey.
Methods: For the most suitable analysis and asessment of such matters, will be studied the work of her biographers and the writings of people who knew her, and who admired her, and some other accesory data of her age obtained from historical sources. For this report, the visual support, consists of paintings about herself by the studied era, offering alegoric and poetic support to the time scene and physical environment where everything happened.
Conclusions: With Florence Nightingale, our profession experiences a marvelous copernican twist, being the axis of that change her human and professional contribution in the War of Crimea.
