RESUMEN

Objetivo: Describir y aclarar los atributos que caracterizan a la homofobia internalizada mediante la propuesta de análisis del concepto de Walker y Avant.
Metodología: Se llevó a cabo una revisión de literatura en las bases de datos: Pubmed, Ebsco, Jstor, Sciencedirect, Scopus y el consorcio nacional de recursos de información científica y tecnológica (CONRICYT) de los conceptos de homofobia internalizada, homonegatividad internalizada y Hombres que tienen Sexo con Hombres (HSH), en idioma inglés y español.
Resultados: Se identificaron significados, usos y atributos de la homofobia internalizada que fueron representados en un caso modelo e ilegitimo. Se determinaron los antecedentes y consecuencias, para finalizar con los referentes empíricos. Este análisis hiso evidente la transformación del concepto. Al pasar de una visión categórica con elementos aislables y simplificados, a otra integrativa donde se reconocen manifestaciones de un fenómeno integrado e influido por un contexto especifico.
Conclusiones: El análisis del concepto representa una oportunidad para construir estrategias, dirigidas a los factores que afectan el cuidado profesional de enfermería en los HSH.
