ABSTRACT
And why not use Essure for contraception?

Introduction: Essure device is stainless steel, which when inserted into the fallopian tube to induce an inflammatory response, resulting in gradual blockage and permanently. It is a very interesting alternative to vasectomy and tubal obstruction by laparoscopy. Associated with postoperative need not incisions or anesthesia, decreased pain, better patient tolerance and reduced hospital stay.
Objective: To evaluate the procedure, placement and evolution of intra sterilization through this device.
Methods: We performed a literature search in databases such as Cochrane, Medline, Gerion, SciELO, Cuiden.
Results: Studies show that a method of sterilization is ambulatory without anesthesia. Successful, safe and associated with high satisfaction. But it also has its complications.
Discussion: Clinicians must know the contraceptive choices available today, in order to effectively advise.
Key-words: Essure/ Hysteroscopy/ Tubal sterilization.
