La enfermedad del Silencio. Relato de la madre de un paciente esquizofrénico

Resumen

La tendencia actual de atender al enfermo psiquiátrico en el propio domicilio, con la intención de promover la integración social desde los inicios de la enfermedad, tiene como contrapartida una mayor carga emocional si cabe en la familia de un paciente esquizofrénico. La unidad familiar se encuentre abrumada, deficientemente informada y completamente desbordada ante la amalgama de consecuencias que desencadena una enfermedad tan cruel como es la esquizofrenia. Consecuencias no solo relacionadas con la manifestación de diferentes emociones (tristeza, culpa, hostilidad, vergüenza.), sino también referidas a los cambios relacionales que se producen entre todos los miembros de la familia. Es Aurora, la protagonista de este relato biográfico y madre del enfermo, quien asume el protagonismo en el cuidado. Pero en su afán por la mejoría de su hijo tiene que precisar también asistencia psiquiátrica y de los profesionales de enfermería. Su propia sintomatología de connotaciones ansiosas y anímicas va fluctuando con los años según la evolución. A pesar de la situación tan problemática en la que Aurora se ve envuelta, surge de ella es resquicio de lucha que la empuja a seguir hacia delante.

Abstract (The illness of the Silence. Relate of the mother of a schizophrenia)

The current tendency of assisting the psychiatric sick person in the own home, with the intention of promoting the social integration from the beginnings of the illness, has as compensation a bigger emotional load if it fits in the family of a schizophrenia patient. The family unit is overwhelmed, deficiently informed and totally overflowed before the amalgam of consequences that unchains such a cruel illness as it is the schizophrenia. Consequences non alone related with the manifestation of different emotions (sadness, accuses, hostility, shame.), but also referred to the relational changes that take place among all the members of the family. He/she is Dawn, the main character of this biographical story and the sick person's mother who it assumes the protagonist in the care. But in their desire for their son's improvement also has to specify psychiatric attendance and of the infirmary professionals. Their symptoms of anxious and psychic connotations go fluctuating with the years according to the evolution. In spite of the situation so problematic in the one that Dawn is wrapped up, it arises of her it is fight crack that it pushes it to continue toward before.
