Resumen Objetivo principal: Conseguir una respuesta basada en evidencia científica a la duda de los pacientes sobre la posibilidad de tomarse la pastillas el día de la cirugía sin que suponga un problema para la cirugía por el estado de ayunas. Metodología: Búsqueda bibliográfica en las principales bases de datos sobre ciencias de la salud y una búsqueda en Google para ver que podían conocer los pacientes sobre su duda. Resultados principales: Los artículos encontrados permiten la toma de la medicación unas horas antes de la cirugía, algunos incluso una hora antes, con un sorbo de agua, salvo que existan contraindicaciones También se permite la toma de líquidos claros hasta 2 horas antes de la intervención y de comida ligera hasta 6 horas antes. Conclusión principal: El paciente puede tomar su medicación, salvo contraindicación, al levantarse la mañana de la cirugía. Objective: To get an evidence based answer to the patient's question about their possibility of take their medication the day surgery without being a problem for their fasting state. Methods: Bibliographic search at the principals health science data bases and one search in Google to see what the patients could know about their question Results: The bibliography sais that it is possible to take the medication a few hours before the surgery, in some articles even says it is possible to take it 1 hour before, with a water sip, unless they have any contraindication. It also possible to drink clear liquids 2 hours before the intervention and a soft meal 6 hours before. Conclusions: The patients can take their medications, if there is no contraindication, when they wake up at morning before the surgery.
