Resumen Salvaguardar la dignidad del paciente, el respeto a su dignidad o un trato digno son las proposiciones que acompañan a la definición de unos buenos cuidados de enfermería. Ahora bien, este común acuerdo, se torna más difícil y complejo a la hora de definir el concepto mismo de dignidad. ¿Qué es la dignidad? ¿Qué implica el respeto a la dignidad del paciente? ¿En que se fundamenta? El concepto de respeto a la dignidad es clave para la profesión enfermera ya que delimita una de las áreas que hacen del enfermo un ser más vulnerable. Con el presente texto pretendemos una aproximación al concepto de dignidad del paciente. Palabras clave: Dignidad, Respeto a la dignidad, Derechos humanos, Cuidados de enfermería, Ética.		Abstract (The dignity in the cares of health) To safeguard the dignity of the patient, the respect to its dignity or a worthy treatment they are the taken care of proposals that accompany to the definition by good nursing care. However, this common agreement, becomes more difficult and complex at the time of defining the same concept of dignity. What is the dignity? What implies the respect to the dignity of the patient? On which it is based? The concept of respect to the dignity is key for the profession nurse since it delimits one of the areas that make of the patient a more vulnerable being. With the present text we try an approach to the concept of dignity of the patient. Key-words: Dignity, Respect of dignity, Human rights, Nursing care.
