II INTERNATIONAL MEETING OF NURSE HISTORIANS
NURSING IN WARTIME: REVISITING THE ROLE OF WAR NURSES

Of all images associated to war disasters, that of the nurse looking after fallen soldiers on the frontline is possibly the only one able to provide a counterpoint to war's desolate landscape. Because war nurses represent hope in the face of barbarity, a sign of anxiously awaited peace.
